Software Architect (m/f/d) – Embedded & Industrial Software Systems

As we expand our software platform, we are consistently developing our measurement technology into intelligent diagnostic and analytical solutions for industrial applications. To support this, we are looking for an experienced Software Architect (m/f/d) who will play a key role in shaping the technological direction of our software platform and create the foundation for a long-term scalable and future-proof software architecture.

In this key position, you will take technical responsibility for the architecture of our software landscape and work closely with our software developers, hardware developers and subject matter experts. You will combine strategic thinking with practical implementation and create the technical basis for innovative products in the future market of hydrogen.

Your responsibilities

Software Architecture & Technology

You continuously develop the overall architecture of our software platform and define sustainable architecture concepts for embedded software, desktop applications and backend components. In doing so, you evaluate new technologies, analyze their potential and make well-founded architecture decisions with regard to the scalability, maintainability, performance and future viability of our software solutions.

Technical Responsibility & Software Engineering

You define development standards, architecture principles and best practices for software development and support the development team with complex technical questions. In addition, you establish modern development processes, conduct technical reviews and make a significant contribution to continuously improving the quality and sustainability of our software.

System Integration & Interfaces

You design the communication between embedded software, application software, databases and external customer systems. In doing so, you develop sustainable interface concepts and modern API architectures and ensure the high-performance integration of all software components.

Platforms, Scalability & Future Technologies

You actively help shape the further development of our software platform and develop future-proof concepts for cloud applications, deployment processes and modern development and operating models. Together with the development team, you create a scalable software foundation for future product generations.

Collaboration & Innovation

You work closely with the software development, hardware development, application and product management teams and contribute your experience early in the development process. With your technical expertise, you identify optimization potential and develop innovative solution approaches for our products.

Your profile

Education

You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering.

Professional Experience

You have at least seven years of professional experience in software development and have already taken on several years of responsibility for the architecture of complex software solutions or technical systems. You have experience in developing modular, maintainable and long-term expandable software architectures.

Technical Skills

You have sound experience in object-oriented software development and are proficient in modern software development processes in a professional environment. Very good knowledge of C++ as well as good knowledge of C and Python are required, along with the ability to design complex software systems holistically and develop them sustainably.

In addition, you have experience in software architecture, API design, system integration and the development of scalable and maintainable software solutions. Knowledge of modern development tools, version control systems such as Git, automated testing and CI/CD processes completes your profile.

Working Style & Personality

You think analytically and strategically, work in a structured and solution-oriented manner and enjoy looking at complex technical contexts holistically. You find it easy to make architecture decisions in a transparent and comprehensible way and to share your knowledge within the development team. You are characterized by independent working, team spirit and high quality standards.

Language Skills

Very good German skills at a minimum C1 level or native-level German are mandatory due to the close collaboration within our development and specialist departments. Good written and spoken English skills are an advantage.

Desirable Additional Qualifications

Ideally, you have already gained experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Digital signal processing and measurement data analysis
  • Numerical methods, model fitting, time series analysis and anomaly detection
  • Embedded Linux
  • Industrial cybersecurity
  • Development of scalable software platforms in an industrial or IoT environment
  • Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP, containerization and DevOps or CI/CD processes
  • Industrial communication protocols and interfaces, such as MQTT, OPC UA or Modbus
  • Data visualization or the development of data-driven software solutions
