EIS-Meter V10

EIS-Meter V10 for fuel cell stacks and electrolyze stacks with high voltages up to 1000V and DC currents up to 1500 A.

The increasing use of fuel cell stacks with higher operating voltages was particularly noticeable in the automotive sector, as the use of high voltages enabled an effective reduction in current, which in turn improved the mass balance of the vehicle.

This development created a need for EIS meters that could measure an electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) of fuel cells with voltages in the range of 600 V, 800 V and even up to 1000 V. The EIS meter V10 has therefore been specially optimized for these requirements and enables precise measurements at voltages of up to 1000 V.

In addition, modern fuel cells are not only characterized by higher voltages, but also by increased performance and lower impedances in the micro-ohm range. This required advanced measurement techniques to capture accurate impedance spectra.

Measurement at high voltages and low impedances is made possible by an innovative modulator (galvanostat) that generates modulation currents of ±20 A, ±40 A and ±60 A. Unlike other devices that require separate boosters, this modulator was an integral part of the new EIS meter V10.

Optimization for high voltages places high demands on the design of electrical connections and electrical safety. Nevertheless, this development has now made it possible to precisely measure modern fuel cell stacks and battery packs, which represents significant progress for electromobility and the use of renewable energies.
